Who brings Celery to an Anime Convention? Me now, Apparently

So I didn't get to see Alita last Wednesday like I originally planned. I went to the theater and watched 20 minutes of previews before the projector shut off because, as it turns out, they didn't actually set up the movie in the film reel. After a false start where they started the movie IN THE MIDDLE I gave up and left, asking for a refund. As I was leaving an employee said that they fixed the issue but at that point I had already missed the first few minutes so like??? No????

Oh and the next day I drove nearly six hours to DC for Katsucon.

Katsucon went much better (mostly). For the life of me I couldn't get drunk beyond a light buzz despite drinking lots of booze, which was mildly concerning considering I am honestly a lightweight. The sales were good and I got a shirt I've been meaning to get for a while, but in hindsight I kind of wish I had gone to at least one panel and I spent more time at the con overall on Friday. It felt like everyone was pretty exhausted the whole weekend so it wasn't just me. I honestly blame the weather for continuously zapping everyone.

For the first time though I felt really confident in my cosplay, even with the issues I had with the iron-on-vinyl on my shirt. I did Ichimatsu from Osomatsu-san and I had a lot of fun taking selfies with a face mask I bought at Katsu last year.

Some of my friends got Nando's for one meal during the weekend, and I can't help but be reminded of the only time I ever went there and didn't know how the menu worked and ended up eating half of an entire chicken in one sitting on the floor of a hotel room in front of everybody. That happened at Katsucon also but a couple of years ago.

I bring this up because there were definitely years I practiced less healthy eating habits, but to be honest I usually lose weight during cons no matter what I eat because I'm walking around so much. This year I gained the weight I just lost this past month back because I was so lethargic, despite going out of my way to try to eat better than I normally would at a con. At some point in the next couple of days I need to get back into a healthy routine - probably whenever this mild con plague I now have passes (I didn't take the Airbourne I brought with me so it's my own fault).

Honestly that's probably the reason this rundown feels more dour than it really should be. I'm writing it while I feel like crap but going in for work anyway due to a commitment I can't really back out of unless I get hospitalized so I'm in a bad mood. The weekend was actually really fun and I'm glad I felt confident in how I looked for once. I'm hoping I can bring that energy with me to Anime Boston.

As an aside, I've been watching GLOW and You in earnest and I love both for very different reasons. I've been alternating between them though and they both act like a pretty good palette cleaner for one another. I'm also getting back into the swing of watching Classic Doctor Who, since my self-imposed deadline is coming up and lately I've been craving more classic/cult science fiction.

I also plan on seeing Alita at some point soon, but the date is TBD. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I'm glad that you had a good time at the con! And bringing healthy eats is a good thing to do (I think the healthiest we ever do is make our own rice balls if we're not too exhausted). But this sounds like it was a relaxing weekend, so that's good. I hope you are feeling better by now, as this reply is late.

Still sucks about the Alita movie. Have you gotten another chance yet to see it? We haven't gotten to go yet ourselves...
