Still Alive

I haven't posted here in a while mostly because I've been insanely busy with site backups for Hetarchive and Kitayumeverse the past couple of months, and I've been much busier socially because I've actually felt up to doing things the past month.

I'm finally out of the funk I was in from November until late March. I think it was the weather warming up that turned it around, but I don't think it was seasonal depression since I'd never had that before. But still, it's amazing how much better I feel just having the option to go outside in the sun without getting skin irritation from how cold it is.

As far as media consumption goes, I had to put my Classic Doctor Who watch on hold temporarily in favor of a bunch of my shows that came back around the end of March/beginning of April. However, since most of them will either be going on hiatus or even ending entirely in the next couple of weeks, I should have more time to get back into it. (I do enjoy watching it, but I have to get into a particular mindset when I watch television made before 1990 otherwise I tend to zone out and miss details. And I like Doctor Who too much to skim my way through it.) I've also been listening to a lot of MONSTA X on Spotify but that's neither here nor there.

Also, I managed to finally start going to the movies again recently. Some super quick hot takes:

Captain Marvel (3/9) - Loved it! Probably one of my top 5 MCU films. I'm really excited to see where they go with this character in the future. Magnificent Cat.
Shazam! (4/6) - It was really good, and easily the second best DCEU film. The cameo at the end didn't work for me though.
Pet Sematary (4/6) - I didn't read the original book or see the first adaption, but I really enjoyed this and the themes it was trying to convey. The staging and effects in some sequences don't look good on a high resolution/contrast/quality screen though. Majestic Cat.
The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (4/10) - A very bizarre and very fun film that was finally (!!) made after 30 years. Adam Driver is fantastic in it. The only bummer is that it treats it's female characters rather poorly.
The Curse of La Llorona (4/22) - Easily the most forgettable entry in The Conjuring Universe. Probably a better movie than the Nun but way less fun and stylish. Could physically feel the cultural appropriation in this story rubbing away anything fun, weighty, or unique this story could have brought.
Us (4/22) - A masterpiece. Literally aside from a certain detail with the bunnies this movie was EXTREMELY my shit. Give Lupita Nyong'o her Oscar.

Tonight I plan on seeing a subtitled screening of Okko's Inn (and maybe something else as well?), and this Saturday I'll be seeing Avengers: Endgame (which is gonna suck waiting for since I actually care about spoilers for Marvel movies now).
