Fictober Setting, Halloween Rising

So there's only two days left in October, and I wanna try spending the next two days actually doing/watching Halloween-themed things during my free time. So I have some mostly-finished Fictober drafts I'm gonna chip away at a little bit over the next couple of days, but I'm probably gonna finish the last of my self-imposed challenge of 13 fills during the first couple of days of NaNo. (And I'm using NaNo this year to finish incomplete pieces from the 2010s so it's still on-theme). I just hope that the AO3 collections remain open for a few days after October ends!

I've had a really hard time getting into the Halloween spirit this year and I'm not sure why. The fact that, aside from being cold and wet, I haven't exactly gotten the normal New England October hasn't really helped. And for whatever reason I've found myself preoccupied this month with other stuff. Hell, almost none of my Fictober fills, even the ones for Spooktober itself, have anything to do with Halloween and that bums me out.

This morning I've found myself finally getting into the mood for Halloween stuff (better late than never I guess!) and tonight I'm gonna watch the first three Halloween films and then see where that takes me. If I have time, I'd like to curate some Halloween movies/tv specials from my childhood that I can rewatch tomorrow, since I think that'll go a long way toward salvaging the holiday for me.

So yeah, Hopefully I'll have another Fictober fill post up tonight that'll consist of follow-ups to two earlier fills, and tomorrow I'll have at least one, very Halloween-themed fill that I'm excited about published in time for the Holiday.

Yay, spooky movies! I haven't felt very Halloween-y, myself, but I think I'm going to follow your lead and at least watch some movies. Maybe Hocus Pocus, and other childhood favorites?

(I need a Hocus Pocus icon. It's intolerable not to have one!!)

Sort of! Mostly they were dead Photobucket images, but there's a bunch on Tumblr and one Livejournal post which still worked. I'm surprised there's not a ton more in the DW icon comms, actually...
