Or you realise you have reached maximum Terry Nation exposure around ep3 of S1 and give up, although that would be even sadder.

The only thing I ever really disliked about his Doctor Who stuff is that he tended to reuse the same tropes and story beats ad naseum, but considering this is a whole show and the other writers involved I very much doubt that'll end up being the case. (Of course, I don't really have a sense of what his writing is like outside of Dalek stories.)

Sapphire & Steel OTOH can be a bit depressing indeed. It's also very weird and seeing as you tend not to prefer the weirder DW stuff, you may not like it that much!

I actually like a fair amount of the weird Doctor Who stuff (I really loved "Horns of Nimon" for example, which *might* be the campiest the show has ever been?) but its also easier for the weirder stuff to fall off the cliff into being completely incomprehensible, and I wanna at least be able to follow what's happening in the story more than anything. I'm surprised to learn Sapphire & Steel can be depressing TBH. I was under the impression was lighter but I haven't actually seen any clips of it.
