I'm just starting to make my way through the Nagato spinoff show (the last piece of it) but so far its been a lot of peaks and valleys with a lot of really good animation and direction throughout. I'd never seen The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and I expected I would like it but it absolutely blew me away. I'll probably make a stand-alone post about it when I'm done but my opinion of the franchise has definitely improved.
A twelfth light novel was confirmed the other day (the anniversary of the endless eight) comprised of two of the uncollected short stories along with a new one, and part of me wonders if it'll have a wrap-around band announcing more anime since we're approaching the 20th anniversary and a lot of other properties from the late 90s/early 00s have been getting revivals/remakes lately.
