For what it's worth, I listened to The Nightmare Fair and it was okay, but pretty sub-par for a BFA (certainly compared to the Six and Charley run I'd just been listening to), understandably, given its origins. As I said before, it's best not to judge BF on the lost stories. Once they get going (past the first few where they were finding their feet in the medium & with the actors), their early run is lovely, and their best stuff tends to be with their new companions - Evelyn & Six, for instance, are great together and I love them so much.
That said, I also am currently listening to Thin Ice, from the lost S27 and that's much better, but then S26 was much closer to where BF starts off anyway, so that's not surprising, compared to the rather more straight-forward and brash Sixth Doctor TV era.
Anyway, that's cool that you managed to do it. I read Mission to Magnus once, but I remember nothing about it whatsoever!! I might have read a novelisation of Slipback as well, now that I come to think about it, but guess what? I remember nothing about that, either. lol.
