Quick Life Updates and Con Schedule
It's been a while since I've made a normal journal entry update, since I've mostly been playing catch-up on tv and sleeping so there hasn't been much to report. However, this coming weekend I'll be attending Katsucon near Washington, D.C. so hopefully I'll have some fun stories to tell. I'm also excited to see some of my friends for the first time in a while!
While I'm on the topic, this is my current schedule for Conventions I'll be attending this year:
- Katsucon - February 14-17 in National Harbor, MD
- Anime Boston - April 19-21 in Boston, MA
- Anime Expo - July 3-7 in Los Angeles, CA
- ConnectiCon - July 13 in Hartford, CT
- Flame Con - August 17 in Manhattan, NY (tentative)
- ColossalCon East - September 13-15 in Pocono Mtns, PA
- Anime NYC - November 15-17 in Manhattan, NY (tentative)
The past couple of years I've been having a pseudo-quarter life crisis since I'm currently 27 and will be turning 28 in June, so I wanna do as many fun activities like going to conventions as I can while I'm still an age where it is still widely socially acceptable.
On the TV front, I've started watching GLOW, You, and the third season of One Day at a Time. I'm currently working my way through the final season of A Series of Unfortunate Events and playing catchup with the Pokemon Sun & Moon anime, the latter two I'm hoping to have done by the time I go on my trip this weekend. A lot of my normal season shows are also gonna be on hiatus for the next couple of weeks at the very least - idk why, since at one point February was a sweeps month - but I'm grateful as this means I get some breathing room and hopefully have time to be looser with my viewing habits and what I do with my time when I'm at home.
Also, this Wednesday I'll be attending a screening of the Alita: Battle Angel film, and if I have time before I leave on my trip the next morning I'll report back here!

I'll look forward to seeing what you report on Battle Angel Alita. I read some of the manga when I was in college, but it was so long ago. I'm hoping this adaptation won't be too bad, but I'm also weirded out by those eyes @A@

They actually fixed the eyes a bit from the first trailer so they're not as uncanny valley anymore. They're still big but the ratio between the iris/pupil and the whole eye is much more proportional which makes a big difference. (x)

We watched a quick review of Alita, and the reviewer really liked it as a fan of the source material, so that sounds promising! I'll wait for your review too. I'm getting more interested now. This feels like an exciting year for movies.

I'm also interested in seeing what you think about Alita! I hope it's good. :D

And Alita's gotten good reviews so I'm hopeful! I'm heading to the theater tonight and will post a (non-spoilery(?)) reaction to it either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I think it'll always be acceptable for you to go to a convention as long as you're not some creep like Vic M.
sorry for going off, but I think your list sounds like a lot of fun! I've always wanted to hit up a few places and table! I get mildly jealous of my artist friends who can afford it. They can live off their art AND attend cons all over.
I've skimmed a bit of the manga for Battle Angel and watched some of the anime, but it's been forever ago. I just remember Rosa Salazar from Birdbox. I met Robert Rodriguez briefly once. I hope the movie is not horrible. lol

From what I can remember, Alita only had a two-episode OVA series and the mangaka isn't really interest in seeing more adapted in that format, but I may check it out after the movie if it piques my interest enough. The reviews are good so I'm hopeful the movie will be good!
