No seriously, I've never actually had a McRib and apparently McDonald's had them in some stores again recently in November, but I don't know if that promotion is still going on nor where to find locations that would have it.

But this post isn't about that. Mainly, it's just been weird in this world of Tumblr decline. And yeah I used *decline* because I'm pretty certain now that the site's demise will be a pretty slow one comparable to livejournal. I'm also pretty happy that a lot of artists and creators I follow on there won't be deleting their blogs or stop posting, but that (understandably) the site won't be their primary social media anymore.

Pillowfort came back up yesterday and it's... underwhelming. I get that it's still in beta, but the way the tags currently function in communities sort of undermines the whole logic behind them (that they're insular) to begin with. Nevermind that the formatting of capitalization is inconsistent and it's completely useless from an organizational standpoint. I know they're planning on addressing some of the issues with the .io domain and eventually adding member-lock capabilities to comms, but tags are such a fundamental part of the site's infrastructure I'd hope they'd try to resolve that sooner rather than later. (Also how the UI works for "discussion"-type posts is bad). I'm trying not to shit on them too much since they're a start up that's still in beta that wasn't prepared for this influx in traffic, but they more-or-less brought this kind of criticism on themselves by boasting and making promises on twitter that they haven't kept with the quality of the site.

But yeah like follow me on there my username is lukebiwalker.

At some point I may try using mastodon again, but I don't have any friends on there who actually use it, and it's functionality is so similar to twitter's. I've seen other social media alternatives thrown around with less frequency, but I don't really know if they're worth the effort to set up and account with either.

As for Dreamwidth, it's on the quieter side but I really enjoy using this layout again and it's gone a lot more smoothly than I expected. I just wish they they allowed you to save more than one draft post. I had to back up a partial Doctor Who review I had written in an email, and ideally I'd like to try to post more drabbles and unpolished writing on this site too.
