23rd-Jul-2019 09:34 am - Playing Catch Up

So the past few weeks have mostly been spent rewatching Veronica Mars. I was mostly on track to be caught up by the time the new season dropped on July 26... but they ended up releasing it a week early so now I'm trying my best to avoid spoilers, though I've intuited some stuff just through context clues. As of writing this post I have the five "stand-alone" episodes of season 3 left, along with the movie and the two novels which I never read before. I have a trip this weekend so my hope is that I'll make my way through the rest of season 3 and the movie over the next couple of days so I can listen to the audiobooks when I'm in transit.

Assuming I haven't been spoiled out the ass, I'd like to make a pair of pre- and post- viewing thoughts on the new season. I suspect I will have a lot but I'm optimistic it'll be good.

The Rocko's Modern Life special is finally getting a release on August 9th. I'd like to rewatch that show in its entirety before that comes out too but I don't know how realistic that is. All I know is that I may start my rewatch of Invader Zim later in August since that's probably going to be released soon too and I don't want it to sneak up on me. (I'd really love if they'd release that in October but I'm not sure how likely that'll be). Before that though, I plan on rereading Johnny The Homicidal Maniac and its spinoffs, since Zim is almost a PG spiritual successor. So it was just announced this morning that Zim will be getting released on August 16th. No way in hell I'll be caught up by then so I think I'll just plan on doing it all in September anyway.

On some level it almost feels like a chore to go through all this trouble, but rewatching all of Hey Arnold! (in continuity order no less!) for the revival a couple of years ago was incredibly rewarding, and I'd like to recapture that as much as I possibly can.
