Used my manga TBR boardgame. I know I wanted to read more BL last time and only got 1, but this time I'm feeling like more Yugioh, Kuroshitsuji, Are You Alice? etc again lol I've decided to go through my physical manga and sort them into: still keeping, need to reread & decide and 'I need to buy the next in the series'. Instead of choosing a reward at the end, I'll pick and read something from my box. Avatar: Conan (beat the trap tile 1 time, roll a prompt) Roll #1:
A 2, prompt: slice of life. More Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun then!
Roll #2:
A 3, prompt: manga by a woman that got an anime. Kuroshitsuji!
Roll #3:
A 6, prompt: costume on cover. Card Captor Sakura!
Roll #4:
A 4, prompt: only has one volume. Ooh, let's see...okay let's change things up a bit with Dogs: Stray Dogs Howling in the Dark. MAL says I've only read one chapter but that doesn't seem right...
Roll #5:
A 3, right past the trap tile. Well. I got the same prompt. Only has one volume. I'll finish Touken Ranbu Online: Anthology Comic - Squeni no Jin.
Roll #6:
A 7 and I landed on the CR title. I generated a 62 and landed on Gyakuten Saiban, but I'm trying to finish the anime so probably won't go finish the manga for quite a while. Regenerated a 32 and that's D.Gray-Man. Ye gods I haven't read this in ages, I hope I'm not too confused...
Roll #7:
A 1...prompt: featuring a group of friends. Yugioh.
Roll #8:
Another 1 what is happening...May only has one week left! Not that I have a time limit, but... Prompt: fantasy creature. Think I'll try to finish ½ Prince.
Roll #9:
A 3, right past the trap tile again. I almost feel disappointed I didn't get to use my skill. Prompt: mythology. Hrmm...oh, One Piece is tagged with that! Why not.
Roll #10:
Is the game broken?? Another 3 ig. TBR tile. Generated a 716. It'sss Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun! And I'm happy to read the manga first for this one.
Roll #11:
A 5...literally right before the end. Prompt: color in the title. Uhh I guess Red Raven?
Roll #12:
A 7 and the end thankfully, my head was starting to spin... The manga I'll be reading from my collection is a BL Croquis.
Boardgame changelog: Removed a few prompt cards. I plan on adding a bunch of prompt cards soon too! |

I read Akuyaku Reijou nanode Last Boss wo Kattemimashita and gave it 9/10 stars! I finished volume 6 and also read volume 7 of Yugioh, it was really good! I then read volume 2 of Are You Alice? and am finding it hard to stop! Then was the BL webtoon Evergreen, which I rated 7/10. I reread volume 1 of Ame Nochi Hare next, I think it will be easy to continue now that I've re-familiarized myself. Lastly I reread the last chapter of volume 5 of Kuroshitsuji and I feel ready to go into the Circus arc in the next volume! 👀 |

Chapter 1: I previously read the first 16 chapters. Let's see how much I remember! In this chapter, we meet the guys who will be part of the 'spell' and a girl from the girl's academy who will get involved. The transformation happens and all but one of them come together in a classroom. Chapter 2-3: The guys realize it happens when it rains a lot. Haruto, the dorm supervisor who's been letting them stay over it when it happens, contacts the girl's academy headmistress for help. Haruto helps Hazuki try on the girl's school uniform but trips and lands on him right when his friend Jouji walks in;; I'm curious if Haruto has a secret and who Kaoruko thought of when they were talking. Chapter 4: Hold up...Haruto already had one girl's uniform in his house, there was the girl from the flashback and her saying she needed to tell Kaoruko something... I want to guess that Haruto is a trans man but I may be reaching because it's a gender bender manga... Chapter 5: Why assume all the 'girls' were from America, why couldn't they say they were from like Spain so that they wouldn't have to worry about someone trying to speak to them in English? Hazuki gets invited to a movie by Asumi and forgets he's a 'girl' and it's not a date, but the other guys support him. Also meanwhile they talk about their love lives. 'Maki' had a fiancee? 'Madoka' currently has one. No one else is dating. Hazuki turned back into a guy and gets stuck in the women's bathroom at the theater. I found my initial notes the first time I read it! From 2013... old comments
Chapter 2: I really like how the appearance change from male to female was mostly subtle. They didn't all sprout moe eyes and super long hair or big boobs. It'd be really nice if this manga were more about the characters rather than 'how different the genders are'/how much it can be exploited. I look forward to finding out more about the characters! They all seem really interesting so far, but I haven't been about to remember all their names yet.
Chapter 4: It doesn't matter what body parts they have, they're all still guys in gender. I like that they don't talk to each other any different than when in their usual state. I also liked the part where they noticed they were sitting with their legs open on the train and had to fix that, because they were wearing skirts. XP Nice touch.
Chapter 5: Sometimes I just don't get how guys think about girls (mainly how it's depicted in some shoujo manga). :/ They're not cattle, just because some guys are physically stronger doesn't mean they have all the advantages against girls. Poor Maki, I wonder what his secret is... Same with Haruto, seems like there was a girl in his past? Hazuki/Asumi is cute, if it was yuri I'd be okay with that pairing. |

I have moved into the new apartment I own, yay! Now I have properly room for cat trees, and a new bigger cat tree was the first thing I bought and carried into the empty apartment. I had the big moving day 2,5 weeks ago so I've had some time to get used to everything. I emptied the last boxes yesterday, I had a little bit of a crisis with the new wardrobe but let me tell you. I bought TWO cheap plastic boxes and it fixed EVERYTHING. It allowed me to organize everything better and save room = boom all good now. My big gripe is the shower cubicle! God it is so ass. The floor keeps flooding and the doors keep falling off the rails. As soon as I can afford it, I'm getting rid of this and buying a new one. Speaking of affording, I'm still missing some essential furniture, namely balcony seats and little table, a shelf for the living room, and shelves for the laundry. I'm supposed to go to another town/city the 1st of June and they have IKEA so I know where I'll be visiting. My wallet is not gonna like it though. And the reason I'm going to that city is because I'm helping out a certain lesbian. We're gonna be in the same town for the summer. I wonder if we'll be dating some day? Oh, I am also happy I got to set up my weirdo shelf xD It has two pieces of art on it, of Kave and Päivätär, as well as a forest reindeer horn and a magic wand made of forest reindeer horn ^^''' I have a weird liking of forest reindeer. So uhhh Eurovision happened. I felt sooooo meh about the whole thing because last year's competition was mega ass. And I kept getting Youtube ads of the Israeli artist saying in Finnish, vote for me. It's so annoying and I'm not even sure if that's allowed, nobody else makes such ads for their songs. I was, however, enamoured with Erika Vikman's stage performance in ICH KOMME, holy moly I got the feeling like yeah I am a lesbian alright... Spain's ESA DIVA was also great and gave me same feelings! My favourite for the victor would've been Estonia. It felt so wholesome, he just sang about coffee. I want more coffee songs for humanity. (Also Joostice.) While I would never wish a victory for a ballad in ESC, I'm not so mad at Austria's win because the artist has real talent and an amazing singing voice. I'm also happy for young queer performants successes this and last year. They have made some fixes (like not making me look at Martin Österdahl's face), which is an improvement sure, but the competition is not fully saved by any means. That's all worth mentioning I can think of right now. |

Self-proclaimed lovely, splendid and elegant girl, Iwata Karen was a rising star during a moment in which AKB48 were at the forefront of everyone's attention. Appearing in Sailor Zombie as a member of the unit, MILK PLANET, the fact that she was present alongside both Yuihan and Mayuyu is maybe all I need to say to make you ware of her popularity. Passing auditions in 2011 and joining the kenkyuusei, it was customary for members to spend a year as research students during this time for a year, only really being promoted during shuffle events. During 2012's Saitama Super Arena concert, Karen was promoted to Team 4 in March, then under the resumed leadership of original captain, Oba Mina, but was only a member for a handful of months, as, during 2012's team shuffle in August, she was moved to Team A where she remained until graduation, turning down a transfer to SKE48's Team S. I sound like I am offering commentary on something far weightier than the history of a Japanese idol group when I write these entries, but I really want to impress on you something of the moments in which I fell in love with the members of AKB48. I think Team A is the group that a lot of people associate Karen with most. It's difficult for me, because when I think of them I always default to the idea of Team A as original Team A, and often when I hear Karen's name, I think of Team 4 despite everything she achieved after. Karen's generation, the twelfth generation, were also the last members of the kenkyuusei I actively followed, and what with Murayama Yuiri debuting as part of the successive thirteenth generation, I kind of think of them as the dividing line between the AKB of to-day, your AKB, and my AKB. Karen debuted alongside some pretty famous names. Saeed Yokota Erena! Tano Yuka! Muto Tomu! Hirata Rina! Sasaki Yukari! Ah, and later, Eguichi Aimi. As a child, she often appeared on television with her mother, a local celebrity in Sendai, and starred in a number of adverts. Between auditions and the final results of her selection, the Tohoku earthquake hit, and she almost considered withdrawing. Sendai and Iwate were hit hard by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. I can't imagine what it must have been like. I remember seeing it on the news, and I couldn't understand the context, every natural tragedy to me felt then like a snow day and I couldn't understand the full extent of the tragedy or why anyone would be concerned if it hadn't hit their hometown. My Japanese friend at the time was really angry with me. I keep thinking of that moment whenever I think of the earthquake. Having established that I am uniquely unqualified when it comes to understanding the fallout of tragedy, I think it's amazing that Karen did not withdraw, even more amazing that in her first year, she passed the auditions held to decide the voice cast of AKB0048 and was announced as central character, Motomiya Nagisa, during the reveal. To pass auditions in April and then to be cast as the main character of a show in December is... it's pretty amazing, I think. Still processing all those feelings, still struggling with that unexpected tragedy, you can see Karen visibly shaken during interviews for DOCUMENTARY of AKB48 Show must go on, and yet still, despite this, she won her role as Nagisa. Similarly, with the tragedy still fresh in her mind, she appeared on the song Hana wa Saku alongside a number of other celebrities commissioned by NHK, her solo version of the song released as the single's B side. To coincide with Karen's rising star, she was selected for the media senbatsu of Manatsu no Sounds Good!, the group's first post- GIVE ME FIVE! single, a sort of bikini filled retrospective of their success, the last real release before Maeda Atsuko's graduation, the beginning of my heartbreak. Despite all this intense focus on Karen, she didn't actually appear in the senbatsu again, although her presence can be seen and heard on a host of B sides all the way up to the release of Kimi wa Melody. That rising star burnt furiously bright, and then, at the end, we lost sight of it. In January 2016, she announced her graduation, and in March, she said good-bye, her last activities taking place in May. Since then, she has continued to appear on stage and screen, focusing on her dream of appearing on Broadway. In keeping with Karen's tradition of firsts, in 2020 she was the first former member to test positive for covid. A year later though, she returned to the AKB theatre to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the twelfth generation and then went on to appear in the Japanese production of the Harry Potter play that everyone seemed crazy about for a while but always seemed like bad fanfiction to me. Performing in this production seems to have lit a fire under Karen again though, and since 2024, she has been living in New York in order to study English. Lastly, and of maybe little interest to anyone but me, I want to point that she lost in 2015's Janken Tournament to Izuta Rina, just because it gives these posts a nice symmetry. :p |

But mostly of myself. will try to be less annoying in the future. |
